If you’re in the Clinton area and looking to grab a cup of coffee or a sandwich in a unique location, check out Pimento’s Café & Market.

While the eatery has been opened for almost a year, it is kind of tucked away on the Mississippi College campus in the quaint Olde Towne neighborhood of Clinton at the corner of Jefferson and Madison streets. But, it is easy to find and well worth the effort

Pimento’s offers a breakfast menu as well as sandwiches, paninis/wraps, salads, soups and desserts. The atmosphere is intimate but casual, and the staff is friendly and personable.

Pimento’s is part of MC’s dining services for its students (it shares the facility with the private college’s bookstore), but is also open to the public. According to “Miss Brenda,” the manager of the Clinton location, the MC eatery is the Memphis-based company’s first on a college campus.

So, why MC?

According to a story written by MC when Pimento’s opened last September, Pimento’s Café was founded by Don “Papa” Jordan, a Mississippi College School of Business graduate, who established his restaurants with his son, Trey Jordan, in 1993. This year, the Jordan family will mark their 20th year promoting “Papa’s” restaurants in Tennessee and now Mississippi.

The Clinton opening drew such notables as Mayor Rosemary Aultman, artist Wyatt Waters and numerous other elected officials and community leaders.

Locals are certainly familiar with Pimento’s.

“Don’t let these empty tables fool you,” said Miss Brenda on a rainy morning this week. “It’s summertime now, and the kids are home. But, when they’re here, the line can go out the door.”
