The Oxford public school district says registration for the upcoming school year is now available online and must be completed by all students in the district.

All students in the district must complete the School Registration form online this year and is necessary before students are considered enrolled in school.

button_educationChildren who are pre-registered as new students as well as returning students will receive letters this week with their specific snapcode (a specific passcode for each student).

Each student will receive a unique snapcode. When parents receive a letter with their child’s specific snapcode, the district office says they will need to visit www.oxfordsd.org/registration, enter their child’s snapcode, and complete the school registration online. If parents or families do not receive a letter in the mail, they are encouraged to check in with their child’s school to request their child’s snapcode next week.

Students who are new to the school district and did not pre-register (students who have never attended school in the Oxford School District and who did not pre-register) will need to register online as well at www.oxfordsd.org/registration.

For new students (students who have never attended school in the Oxford School District) or students moving to a new school building (Kindergarten, second, fourth, sixth, and ninth-grade students), parents and families of these students will be required to provide important documents for their child. These required documents should be brought to the Oxford High School Commons area July 22 – July 26 between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Required documentation for students new to the Oxford School District or students moving to a new school building include:

• two (2) proofs of residence – one which must be a mortgage document or property deed, an apartment or home lease, or a Filed Homestead Exemption Application Form;

• a current utility bill (water, gas or electricity)

• Mississippi Immunization 121 Form/updated immunization record (for students entering Kindergarten and seventh grade ONLY)

• an original birth certificate (for students entering Kindergarten ONLY)

The two current proofs of residence on file for a student to be eligible for enrollment in the Oxford School District must be updated and documented when a student moves to a new school.

Students that are entering seventh grade at Oxford Middle School must have an updated immunization record (Mississippi Immunization 121 Form) showing all required immunizations including TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccination. The Mississippi State Department of Health requires the TDaP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccination “booster” for all students entering seventh grade. Recent is defined as having received an additional TDaP booster after the age of seven.

Parents or families without Internet access can stop by the School Registration event July 22 – 26, 2013, in the Oxford High School Commons area between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for assistance with filling out the School Registration Form online. A Spanish translator will be on-site to help those who might need assistance.

For more information on the school registration or back-to-school information, visit www.oxfordsd.org/registration.
