The Regions Building and Capital Towers are the finalists to become the new home to the Mississippi Secretary of State’s annex office, according to the state Department of Finance and Administration.
The Regions Building, already home to a number of state offices, is at 210 E. Capitol St. and is managed by the Hertz Investment Group.
Capital Towers is at 125 S. Congress St. and is managed by the Mattiace Company.
A selection by the DFA and Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann could be made any day now, the DFA says.
With its lease at 700 North St. expiring in January, the Secretary of State’s Office wants the new space ready by Jan. 21.
The RFP asked for suitable office space within four blocks of the Secretary of State’s main office in the Heber Ladner building at 401 Mississippi St.
The search area for the new office was bounded on the east by State Street and the north by High Street. The RFP cited worker safety concerns in narrowing the boundaries for the new office building.
The landlord must provide at least 100 parking places for staff and provide maintenance and janitorial service.
Between 80 and 90 workers staff the office building at 700 North St., which 700 North St. LLC owns.
