Jackson Furniture of Cleveland, Tenn., is expanding its manufacturing operations into Mississippi with the opening of plants in Itawamba County’s Mantachie and Union County’s Myrtle.
The maker of motion and stationary furniture says it is investing $2 million and creating 250 jobs over three years at the two locations.
Jackson Furniture will manufacture motion furniture under its Catnapper reclining products brand and stationary furniture under its Jackson brand.
Jackson Furniture manufactures sofas, recliners, camouflage furniture, lift chairs, accent chairs, tables and rugs. Founded in 1933, the company is known for opening its doors when the banks closed theirs.
The manufacturer says that while the fabric and leather covers used in its furniture are made overseas, its workers in the United States build the frames and apply the covers.
