Entergy Mississippi gives $1M to two Jackson museums

entergyA Mississippi-based utility has presented a hefty check to organizers of two museums earmarked for downtown Jackson.

Entergy Mississippi Inc. has presented a $1-million gift to the 2 Mississippi Museums project currently under construction in Jackson, which includes the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

Haley Fisackerly, Entergy Mississippi president and CEO, said, “The museums will be the ultimate tourism destination for visitors interested in the many facets of the Mississippi story. The museums will also be an educational gem for children, will create jobs for Mississippians and will have a tremendous economic impact on the Jackson area and across the state.”

The museums will open in 2017 in celebration of Mississippi’s statehood bicentennial. They will be located on the campus of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History campus in downtown Jackson.
