The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has issued certificates of need (CONs) to three health care-related projects, including one for a cost overrun.
St. Dominic – Jackson Memorial Hospital received CON authority for the renovation of 17,008 square feet of space on the first and second floors of the hospital in order to modernize its Operating Room East area. The total capital expenditure for this project is $5,579,241.
Hattiesburg-based Forrest County General Hospital (d/b/a Asbury Hospice House) has received a CON to construct a freestanding facility dedicated to hospice care. The proposed building will be located at 304 South 40th Avenue in Hattiesburg and will consist of approximately 20,000 square feet of space. The total capital expenditure for this project is $6,449,306.
Singing River Health System (d/b/a Ocean Springs Hospital) received CON authority for the cost overrun to CON #HG-MOB-0310-012; R-0814 (construction of a medical office building). The approved capital expenditure for this project is $6,192,271. The additional capital expenditure is $711,970, making the revised capital expenditure for this project $6,904,681.
The MSDH has administered the CON program since July 1986. Since then, more than 1,400 CON applications have been reviewed, representing total capital expenditures of approximately $5 billion.
