Mississippi Ballet to celebrate 50th year with NY City Ballet’s Stars of American Ballet

The official announcement won’t come until a Sept. 17 press conference but The Mississippi Ballet says it will kick off its golden anniversary celebration on Sunday, Nov. 3, with a Thalia Mara Hall performance by t, a touring company comprised of principals & soloists from New York City Ballet.

They will be performing four pas de deux by George Balanchine, one of the most prolific choreographers in the history of American dance and co-founder of New York City Ballet. Additionally, they will perform Jerome Robbin’s masterpiece Fancy Free set to the music of Leonard Bernstein.

The official announcement of the 50th anniversary kick off performance is scheduled for 10:30 a,m. Sept. 17 on the front lawn of Thalia Mara Hall, 206 E. Pascagoula St.
