The Two Lakes project, written off numerous times, is still alive, and supporters seem just as confident of victory as ever. “People tell us that we have gotten so many no’s that there must be something wrong with the project,” said Robert Muller, an engineer with McGowan Working Partners, the project’s chief promoter. “We think there is something wrong with the no’s.”

Projects get AARA funding

WASHINGTON — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack yesterday announced projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for invasive species projects. Barbour: House blind to budget realities

The Mississippi Legislature is at another impasse on the budget, and Gov. Haley Barbour is ratcheting up his criticism of lawmakers: In a statement, Barbour said: "It is unfortunate that some members of the House remain blind to budget realities. At (yesterday's) session of budget negotiators, for example, State Rep. Dirk Dedeaux, chairman of the House Medicaid Committee, said the federal stimulus money is like manna from heaven, and just like manna from heaven it must be eaten that day or it will rot."
