Who is Ross Reily?
Ross Reily has been the Editor of the Mississippi Business Journal since October of 2008.
In his time there, the MBJ has been given the General Excellence Award by the Mississippi Press Association for best in class for newspapers in Mississippi. In the last three years, the paper has also been recognized numerous times for its investigative reporting and editorial writing as well as photography, design and feature writing.
Reily was previously in Greenville, where he was editor of the Pulitzer Prize winning Delta Democrat Times for three years.
Prior to that, he held news management roles at The Sun-Herald in Biloxi and the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo. He has also worked at the Jackson (Tenn.) Sun. His work has been cited for excellence by the Mississippi Press Association, The Associated Press and other organizations. In 1998, he was named baseball writer of the year by the Southern League for his coverage of the Double-A West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.
A native of Cleveland, Reily graduated from Delta State University and has been active in community leadership roles throughout his career, serving on community boards in Itawamba County, Lee County, Warren County and Hancock County as well as boards for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the Greenville YMCA, the alumni association and journalism department at Delta State University and the Main Street Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis. He has also served on the editor selection committees for the student newspapers at Delta State and the University of Mississippi.
In the last two years, Reily has become an avid runner, having participated in marathons and half marathons in Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana as well as having recently completed the 2011 Chicago Marathon.
Reily is married to the former Sarah Catherine Dill of West Point. They have three children, Sarah Parker (7), Samuel Wilkerson (5) and Margaret Louise (2).
