John Gorman, a Madison County resident and 20-year veteran of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, was killed Wednesday in during a training exercise in Tunica County, according to a news release from Allen Godfrey, executive director of the commission. Gaming Commission officer killed in accidental shooting

A Mississippi Gaming Commission enforcement agent has died of his wounds after an accidental shooting during a training exercise in Tunica County, Allen Godfrey, executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission has confirmed. Godfrey said the name of the officer and details of the accident would probably be made public later today. The shooting occurred about 9 a.m. today.

Mississippi casino revenues hit lowest yearly mark since 1997

Last year was the weakest gaming revenue year for Mississippi casinos since 1997, according to numbers released today by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
