Lighting fixtures manufacturer expanding, adding jobs

COLUMBIA — St. James Lighting is expanding its operations in Columbia to create 20 new jobs. The announcement came yesterday from the company and the governor’s office. Officials say the $225,000 investment will meet a growing demand for its products. The company currently has 23 employees. State Port director disputes union numbers on jobs

GULFPORT — The state port has responded to complaints its job numbers appear inflated. New executive director Jonathan Daniels said the port employs the equivalent of 103 full-time longshoremen, not the 388 union workers the port previously publicized.
