Wildfire burns 850 acres on the Coast

JACKSON COUNTY — Arson or carelessness started a fire that burned about 850 acres in Jackson County, according to the Mississippi Forestry Commission. The fire was contained and forestry agents were checking hot spots yesterday, Jackson County Emergency Management Agency director Donald Langham. Drought forces extension of burn bans

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI — Supervisors in several South Mississippi counties have voted to extend burn bans that were put in place two weeks ago because of drought.
