The state’s tourism director, Mary Beth Wilkerson, has resigned her post to take a position with the Ridgeland Tourism Commission. Wilkerson left her position effective June 15. Wilkerson, who had been with the state tourism office for 20 years and nine months, had served as MDA tourism director for two and a half years.

Commission swears in members

The Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women recently held a swearing-in ceremony for five new members. The state-funded agency examines quality-of-life issues that affect women, particularly in education, healthcare, the economy, political participation and race relations. The new commissioners are Wesla Sullivan Leech, Mary Beth Wilkerson, Rita Wray, Faye Davidson and Joey Albritton.
