MDEQ raises water contact advisory for Coast beach

OCEAN SPRINGS — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted a water contact advisory that was issued February 20 for a beach monitoring station in Ocean Springs. The advisory has been raised for Station 17-St. Andrews Beach. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.

MDOT warns of more icy roads in wake of storm

Though the latest winter storm has passed, the Mississippi Department of Transportation is urging motorists to beware of lingering ice on roads and bridges. MDOT said more than 40 counties still have slippery roads. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has released an update on road conditions as winter weather moves through the state. MDOT reports ice has been detected on roadways and bridges in dozens counties. WAVELAND — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted a water contact advisory that was issued Feb. 6. The affected beach was Station 3 at Waveland Beach, which extends from Oak Street east to Favre Street. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.
