Hattiesburg-based power association serves more than 400,000 customers
South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA) announced June 30 that it would buy a 17.5 percent stake in Mississippi Power Company’s clean coal power plant to be built in Kemper County.
The Hattiesburg-based power association is made up of 11 member distribution cooperatives and cumulatively serves 406,000 customers.
