Florence, Alabama, to receive Mississippi Blues Trail marker

The Mississippi Blues Trail will celebrate the legacy of W.C. Handy, the “Father of the Blues,” by placing a historical marker at Handy’s birthplace in Florence, Alabama. CLEVELAND — The “Enlightenment of W.C. Handy” is the subject of the next Mississippi Blues Trail marker to be unveiled Thursday at the Bolivar County Courthouse.
