“Anywhere where people and cash come together,” there is a chance of robbery, said Paul Gergen, law enforcement and technical manager of North American Communications Corp. That company manufactures the SafeAlert device, a button typically installed on automatic teller machines (ATMs) that automatically dials 911 emergency officials.
Gergen has almost 30 years of experience in the law-enforcement field. He said that although traditional security measures taken by banks are helpful, they are not a strong deterrent to would-be robbers.
