Gulf Coast casinos take hurricane threats seriously

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST — With literally billions of dollars and thousands of jobs at stake, casinos here have taken the threat of hurricanes seriously. Each of the casinos is taking a slightly different tack towards protecting their property with an eye to minimizing damage if a hurricane strikes.

Florian Lamey, director of security for Casino Magic in Biloxi, went through Hurricane Camille when he was 17 years old. Camille, considered one of the worst hurricanes in the history of the United States, will never be forgotten by any Coast resident who lived through its fury.
