As the huddled masses, political junkies, the media and campaign professionals waded through precinct returns last Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning, it became quite clear that the 1998 election season would be significant for its production of “previously unimaginables:” the Bushes have replaced the Kennedys as America`s first family of politics; former “professional” wrestler Jesse Ventura will be the next governor of Minnesota; and in Mississippi`s Fourth District Congressional contest, a slow-talking highway commissioner from rural Jefferson Davis County beat the Jackson tax attorney with all the money.
