Healthcare facilities popping up along Highland Colony Parkway

As the Highland Colony Parkway continues to develop in Madison County, the medical options for area residents continues to grow. New medical clinics have opened recently, which makes seeking medical care easier.

“I like it because I don’t have to drive so far to get the care I need,” said Madison resident Jacqui Paige. “My time is valuable, too, and I appreciate that I can have the same tests done or get the same type of care that I would if I had to drive to Lakeland (Drive) or elsewhere.”

Robby Channell, spokesperson for Mississippi Baptist Healthcare, said that research was done in the Madison area approximately six to eight years ago, and the studies clearly showed that a medical office could be supported in the area. “The growing population had valid medical needs that certainly warranted putting a facility in Madison.”

Baptist now has a four-story, 8,800-square-foot building that stands prominently on the corner of Highway 463 and the Highland Colony Parkway.

“Our building sits on 60 acres, so there’s plenty of room to expand as the need arises,” said Channell. “As the area continues to grow, we’ll continue to assess the needs.”

The new facility has been very well received by the community, according to Channell. “We had over 700 people at our grand opening.” While the facility is not fully occupied just yet, “We’re getting there,” said Channell. There are several clinics now open in the facility, and the Women’s Clinic is slated to open in January.

“We are very community oriented,” said Channell. “We have a meeting room in our new building that is designed for free health seminars. We offer them a couple of times a month, on various topics, depending on the time of year.”

Down the parkway, St. Dominic Family Practice Associates has opened in the new Highland Medical Arts Building, part of St. Dominic’s neighborhood practice outreach.

St. Dominic Family Practice associates offer quality, cost effective healthcare. Trained in a wide range of medical disciplines, the physicians provide continuing, comprehensive care. Their focus is on preventative medicine, and they consider themselves a partner with their patients in maintaining your good health.

Rebekah Moulder, M.D., has medical interests in women’s health, pediatrics and preventative medicine and B. Scott Torrey, M.D., specializes in sports medicine, pediatrics and preventative medicine.

Also new on the parkway is the new Madison location of GI Associates, an outpatient procedure facility built to provide patients with the latest technology and the highest level of service.

GI Associates, which also has offices in Jackson and Vicksburg, is the largest gastroenterology group in Mississippi and one of the largest in the Southeast with 11 physicians and more than 100 employees. April L. Ulmer, M.D., and Chad Wiginton, O.D., are the healthcare providers at the new Madison location.
