Water, environmental projects getting ARRA funds

AROUND MISSISSIPPI — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the selection of nearly $143 million in water and environmental projects that are being funded immediately through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The projects are designed to help provide safe drinking water and improved wastewater treatment systems for rural towns and communities in 21 states.

In Mississippi, stimulus funds are coming to Green Acres Water Association ($402,000), North Covington Water Association (approximately $2.5 million), Harmony Ridge Water Association ($560,000), the City of Rolling Fork (approximately $1.29 million) and Swiftwater Development Association ($183,705).
