Old Waverly reworking greens

WEST POINT — Old Waverly is replacing its bent grass greens with Champion Ultra dwarf Bermuda grass. The renovations include the re-contouring of the greens built in 1988 and enlarging several by up to 15 percent.

“We visited courses throughout the country and met with some of the most reputable experts in the field leading up to the decision to change our putting green turf,” said Bill Colloredo, general manager of Old Waverly. “Champion became the clear-cut favorite as a grass that handles well in Mississippi heat and is an exceptional putting surface.”

Old Waverly began the process July 6, and the new greens should be playable by September 12.
