Apple’s latest gadget is the take-anywhere, tablet computer iPad, which has a 9.7-inch screen, weighs 1.5 pounds and is a half-inch thick. The device has an LED touch screen and pricing begins at $499. Apple began selling the iPad in April and within 30 days sold 1 million of the devices. Billed as the laptop killer, the iPad is the perfect gift for the Mac-loving executive. … Meanwhile the Blackberry Playbook is Research in Motion’s answer to the Apple iPad. It is a seven-inch tablet computer that weighs less than a pound. It is powered by QNX technology and offers video, dual cameras and touchscreen. Prices are not yet available, as the PlayBook will not be available for purchase until early 2011.
