Executive director originally said he had not been arrested
Mississippi Department of Transportation executive director Butch Brown was arrested in the early morning of July 23 and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Brown was arrested at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. The casino quickly dropped the disorderly conduct charge. In November, Brown agreed to a plea agreement on the public intoxication charge.
Brown initially denied being arrested when a Mississippi Business Journal reporter reached him on his cell phone.
“I haven’t been involved in anything drunk and disorderly,” he said (“MDOT chief arrested,” MBJ July 23). Brown had attended a gathering of economic developers before the incident.
