Chain manufacturer to occupy ex-Yorozu plant

VICKSBURG — A Missouri-based company says it plans to open a manufacturing plant in Vicksburg later this year and to begin full production of heavy-duty chains within a year.

Laclede Chain Manufacturing Company, LLC of St. Louis bought a former automotive parts plant in August. Yorozu Automotive Mississippi had shut down in 2008.

Laclede CEO Jim Riley tells The Vicksburg Post his company didn’t get any incentives from Warren County or the state, but went for a finished building with easy access to Interstate 20.

Its products range from tire traction chains for cars, trucks and buses to smaller accessories such as rope clips and grab hooks.

Laclede is the first major industry to locate at the Ceres Research and Industrial Interplex since Yorozu closed.
