Prentiss lands precast concrete plant, 40 jobs

Prentiss will gain 40 jobs when precast concrete products manufacturer Foley Products Co. opens a plant in the Jefferson Davis County city later this year. The project represents a company investment of more than $7 million, officials said.

The company’s new Prentiss location will enable the company to better serve its customers and allow for future growth, Foley Products said.

Foley Products VP of Operations Chris Davidson said Mississippi is a key component of the company’s Southeastern strategy. “We plan to have our facility online in 2012 so we are ready for the economic growth we see on the horizon,” said Davidson. “We look forward to being a strong, responsible precast concrete products supplier to Mississippi and the entire Gulf Coast market area.”

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) helped facilitate the project by providing assistance for infrastructure improvements, as well as assistance for on-the-job training.

“This is great news for Prentiss and Jefferson Davis County,” said Jim Barksdale, interim executive director of MDA. “Foley’s investment in the area and the jobs the company is creating will have a lasting positive impact on the local economy, and I’m pleased MDA was able to assist with this project. I wish the company many years of success in Mississippi.”

With additional facilities in Newnan, Ga., Winder, Ga., and Clanton, Ala., Foley Products manufactures, sells and delivers precast concrete manholes, catch basins, precast concrete communications and electrical boxes, reinforced concrete pipe, box culvert and arch pipe. The company recently added FoleyArch, a bottomless culvert designed for use in multiple applications, CrystalStream Technologies, an innovator in the field of storm water management, and the full line of MDOT precast bridges to its product line of precast concrete products.
