Davis attends first board meeting since investigation began

SOUTHAVEN — Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has attended his first board of aldermen meeting since he became a target of an investigation into his alleged misuse of city money.

A number of people who spoke urged the embattled mayor to step down, but that’s something the city’s board of aldermen already failed to get him to do.

Davis referred many citizens’ questions to the city attorney.

City Attorney Mark Sorrell says he advised the mayor not to answer any questions during the meeting because of the ongoing state and federal investigation.

Two hundred people sat in the city board room. A separate room was set up to handle the overflow crowd, but people complained after technical issues interrupted the audio.

Davis left yesterday’s meeting through a back door without taking media questions.
