Entergy Mississippi reports project not 'indefinitely' postponed

JACKSON — Entergy Mississippi Inc. says a news release from the Mississippi Department of Transportation about a transmission line installment project near the I-55/I-220 interchange in Jackson was inaccurate.

The MDOT news release, which ran on the MBJ site March 7, said the project was “indefinitely” postponed due to a permitting issue.

Mara Hartman, senior communications specialist at Entergy Mississippi, wrote in an email to the MBJ: “I found MDOT’s alert/news release…regarding the Entergy transmission line on their website. While they did use the word ‘indefinitely’ in their headline and the body of the alert, the fact is the project has not been postponed and all work is currently on schedule. The line section referenced is currently in service and supplying the power requirements to Livingston Road Substation.

“There is an issue on the line crossing 1-220 that required us to reschedule the rebuild of the wire in the crossing span due to some safety concerns. We are currently working with MDOT to resolve these issues. We expect only a minor change in project sequence, and again, all work is on schedule with no delays anticipated or discussed.”
