GOP comes to Mississippi

Republican presidential candidates Rick SantorumNewt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are all vying for Mississippi votes ahead of tomorrow’s critical primary.

The three candidates made sure the Magnolia State was thoroughly courted last week with campaign stops across the state from Tupelo to Gulfport.

National polling has Romney out front at 35% following a Thursday endorsement by Gov. Phil Bryant and numerous state officials. Santorum and Gingrich are in a deadlock for second place at 27%. The remaining GOP candidate, Texas Rep. Ron Paul has not campaigned in the state.

Analysts say both Santorum and Gingrich badly need wins in Mississippi (and Alabama) to continue their quest for the Republican nomination.
