New Orleans-based company buying bankrupt Monmouth

NATCHEZ — A New Orleans hotel management company is purchasing Monmouth, a historic plantation property.

The Natchez Democrat reports New Orleans Hotel Consultants, a hotel management company, is taking over operations at Monmouth after United Mississippi Bank initiated foreclosure proceedings on the property Feb. 29.

Warren Reuther, president of New Orleans Hotel Consultants, declined to say how much the property cost. He said the company hoped to restore Monmouth to the “grandeur it once had.”

He said there was a lot of renovation work to do.

He said Monmouth would extend its restaurant hours, expand its menu and add an afternoon tea and early dinner for patrons.

Monmouth was owned by Ron and Lani Riches for approximately 35 years.
