TUNICA — The Tunica Arena and Expo Center is hosting a large-scale horse show for three years, starting in 2013.
The facility’s manager, Rebecca Fyfe, says the Palomino Horse Breeders of America World Show will last two weeks each summer through 2015, giving a boost to the local economy.
The World Championship Horse Show is the palomino group’s largest annual event, with more than 850 horses competing.
The arena and expo center have 48,000 square feet of floor space, 236 exposition booths and a seating capacity of 5,500. The facility also has 83 RV hookups.
More than 200,000 people attended events at the facilities in 2011. Fyfe says in a news release that the facility has been aiming to attract longer and larger events.
