Utilities extend incentive plan to small businesses

JACKSON — Electric and natural gas utility companies doing business in Mississippi have submitted extensions of their Small Business Rate Incentive Plans, according to a release from Public Service Commissioner Leonard Bentz.

Bentz originally put these plans into place in 2011.

Incentive plans filed by Mississippi Power Company, Entergy Mississippi, Atmos Energy Corporation, CenterPoint Energy Resources and Wilmut Gas & Oil Company include reduced rates, waived security deposits and plans that encourage the use of existing or vacant buildings.

“Small businesses are the life-blood of the economy, especially here in Mississippi,” Bentz said. “Every cent we can save a business can be used to expand services or hire new employees.”
