He drove from Michigan to Biloxi for a friend’s funeral, then felt obligated to play penny slots in honor of his friend instead of his normal table game.

So, of course, he hits the jackpot — worth $7.2 million.

Tyler Morris of Montague, Mich., won the jackpot Friday night between 10 and 10:30 with a $3.50 wager on a Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship progressive slot machine at the Palace Casino.
