Clock runs out on Auburn's iconic oaks at Toomer's Corner

At 7:22 a.m. Tuesday, workers made the first cut to Auburn University’s famed oaks at Toomer’s Corner.

Crews then moved back and forth between the two trees, removing large segments of the more than 80-year-old oaks and carting the wood away in a truck.

More than 100 fans and students with cameras lined the streets, watching in silence.
