HATTIESBURG — The city of Hattiesburg has denied most of the claims in a lawsuit filed by several West Fourth Street business owners who said the ongoing road construction has adversely affected commerce in the area.
Defense attorney L. Clark Hicks tells The Hattiesburg American the city plans to request that the lawsuit be tossed.
The road project, which began in April, will widen Fourth Street from two lanes to three, add a sidewalk to the south side and put a landscaped median from Main Street to Hutchinson Avenue.
Attorney for the plaintiffs, Daniel M. Waide, said he had nothing to add to the pleadings already filed with the court.
