PASCAGOULA — Jackson County supervisors have hired an engineer, an architect and a grant administrator to design and handle a $1.3-million addition to the new Haley Reeves Barbour Maritime Training facility at Ingalls shipyard.
The Sun Herald reports the addition has been ordered before the Barbour building was put into use.
It is called the Basic Skill Training Annex and county supervisors said Ingalls asked for it.
The county is the conduit through which the Mississippi Development Authority has granted the money.
Board of Supervisors president Mike Mangum said the annex is not designed yet.
County Administrator Brian Fulton said the annex will be like an auditorium, a space that the Barbour building does not have.
