Charles McCrary to step down as CEO of Alabama Power

Charles McCrary will step down as chief executive officer at Alabama Power Co. at the end of the month, according to the Birmingham Business Journal.

McCrary, who has led Alabama Power for 13 years, will be replaced by Mark A. Crosswhite, according to a release from the company. Crosswhite most recently served as COO at Alabama Power parent Southern Co. He will become Alabama Power president and CEO effective March 1.

McCrary has chaired the board for the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and has served on the boards of Regions Financial Corp., Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc., the Business Council of Alabama, Children’s of Alabama, Birmingham Museum of Art and Southern Research Institute, among others.

Alabama Power is one of the largest employers in Birmingham.
