Though the latest winter storm has passed, the Mississippi Department of Transportation is urging motorists to beware of lingering ice on roads and bridges.
MDOT said more than 40 counties still have slippery roads. The counties are Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clay, Coahoma, DeSoto, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Leflore, Lowndes, Madison, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishimingo, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Winston, Yalobusha and Yazoo.
The public is encouraged to limit travel only in case of emergency in the affected areas.
