COLUMBUS — Russian steel company Severstal has completed its sale of a pair of steel plants to AK Steel and Steel Dynamics.
In a statement from Severstal’s press office, CEO Alexey Mordashov confirmed yesterday the sale of Severstal Columbus, LLC, which is located in northeast Mississippi, to Steel Dynamics Inc. and Severstal Dearborn, LLC to AK Steel.
Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining companies, has said it’s selling both plants for about $2.33 billion.
The company said the sale “unlocks substantial value to Severstal’s shareholders.”
