JACKSON — The state is celebrating Agritourism Month in October with events around the community and at its 13 Welcome Centers, and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture (MDAC) has released a new mobile app to help visitors locate agritourism operations around the state.
“Agritourism in Mississippi provides our farmers and landowners with the opportunity to show the importance of our state’s largest industry,” said Malcolm White, director of Visit Mississippi. “Visitors to operations such as u-picks, petting zoos and demonstration farms come away with a fun and authentic experience of Mississippi.”
The MDAC-launched Mississippi agritourism mobile app provides a description of the farms as well as locations and directions for navigating there. Mobile app users can also find events taking place at nearby farms. The app is available free for download for iOS and Android smart phones and tablets.
