Board taking applications for emergency food, shelter programs

Oklahoma TornadoGREENWOOD — The Emergency Food and Shelter Program of Leflore County has received $19,300 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports that a local board is taking applications through Friday from nonprofit agencies in the county.

Agencies must be eligible for federal money and have shown they can deliver emergency food, shelter or both. They must also have an accounting system.

The money comes from the U.S. departments of Homeland Security and Human Services and from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
