Deadline nears for C Spire's fiber optic Internet offer

c-spire-lte-106MCCOMB — People in three Mississippi cities are getting speedy fiber optic service at home, and a Ridgeland-based company says a fourth city has qualified.

The Enterprise Journal reports that McComb is among several cities where the offer could expire New Year’s Day.

The cities that not have qualified any areas and face removal from the program by Jan. 1, 2015 include:

–        Batesville

–        Clinton

–        Hattiesburg

–        Horn Lake

–        McComb

The city of Jackson was not added to the program until September – so they are still in the qualification process.  Four cities have qualified parts or all of their entire towns for the 100 times faster Internet and related services, including Corinth, Quitman, Ridgeland and Starkville.

All of the remaining five cities are aware that they will be removed from the cspire.com fiber to the home website and we will begin the refund process after Jan. 1, 2015.  C Spire expects to add additional cities in the next phase of its program in 2015.

Pre-registration began on Dec. 4, 2013 in the initial nine cities.  Residents are required to pay a refundable $10 fee and pre-register their interest in receiving one or more of the services, which include 1 Gigabit per second ultra-fast broadband Internet access, super HD television and nationwide home phone service.
