JACKSON — The Mississippi Farmers Market will kick off the 2015 shopping season this Saturday, Jan. 31, with a selection of cold-weather crops. Through the utilization of high tunnels and greenhouses, farmers are able to offer customers a wide variety of crops earlier in the season. Farmers will be selling Mississippi-grown radishes, beets, carrots, sweet potatoes, and a variety of greens, among many other winter crops. Shoppers can always expect to find milk, cheeses, yogurt, honey, farm-fresh eggs, beef products, and an assortment of specialty food items and unique Mississippi hand-crafted items.
The Mississippi Farmers Market is located at 929 High Street adjacent to the Fairgrounds. The market is now open each Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will resume its three-days-per-week schedule in the spring as more crops become available. The Farmer’s Table Restaurant, located inside of the market, is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. “Like” The Farmers Table on Facebook for daily lunch specials.
