BILOXI — Mississippi rapper Afroman has been arrested for misdemeanor simple assault after punching a fan at a Tuesday night concert in Biloxi.
The 40-year-old rapper, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, was released by Biloxi police after posting $330 bond.
A video posted on various news outlet websites appears to show a female fan coming on stage and approaching rapper who turns and punches her in the face.
Chase Taylor, who owns Kress Live where the rapper was performing, says the concert was stopped and security turned Afroman over to police.
The rapper’s representative says in a statement the rapper didn’t know if the fan was a man or a woman and just reacted to someone being on the stage.
Afroman was nominated for a Grammy in 2002 for “Because I Got High.”
