Merit Health is announcing several promotions at its hospitals throughout the Jackson/Vicksburg area.
Monica Derosier joins Merit Health River Region with nearly 18 years of experience as a registered nurse. Most recently, she worked as an ICU nurse at Newport Hospital in Newport, R.I. She has also worked as a critical care nurse in 10 hospitals in eight different states. Derosier has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Madonna University in Livonia, Mich. and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Cincinnati.
Tara Howington has been promoted to manager in radiation therapy for the Robert R. Smith Gamma Knife Center located at Merit Health Central. Previously, Howington acted as interim manager in radiation therapy and was a radiation therapist. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a Bachelor of Science degree in radiologic technology and received her specialization in radiation therapy at Washburn University. Howington has served on the Relay for Life Fundraiser Committee and is a member of the Louisiana Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Laura Jones has been promoted to lab director at Merit Health River Oaks. Previously, she served as assistant lab director. Jones started at the hospital as a second shift supervisor and has worked in all areas of the lab, was a phlebotomy supervisor, and assisted with laboratory information systems. Jones received her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Delta State University and St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Kristi Smith originally joined Merit Health River Region in 2011 as the director of physician relations and recruitment. She recently returned to Merit Health River Region as the director of physician outreach. Kristi graduated from Delta State University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration.
Justin Stroud has been promoted to CFO of Merit Health Rankin and Merit Health Woman’s Hospital. Stroud most recently served as CFO of Merit Health Northwest Mississippi in Clarksdale. He is a licensed certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is an active member of Rotary International, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the FBC Jackson Worship Choir.
Leigh White has been promoted to Director of Corporate Programs, Marketing. Previously, she served as outreach program coordinator at Merit Health River Region. Her position included the oversight of two affinity programs, Senior Circle and Healthy Woman, as well as the hospital’s volunteer auxiliary. White graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Prior to coming to Merit Health River Region White served for 11 years as Christian education director for First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg.
