2 receive home care honors

The Mississippi Association for Home Care (MAHC) recently announced the winners of two statewide awards.

Quincy Oatis, COTA, of Purvis has received the 2016 J.T. Gilbert Clinical Award.

Oatis has worked for Gentiva Home Health in Meridian for eight years and strives to improve the quality of life for others. In his spare time, often after his eight children are in bed, he goes to his shop and builds occupational tools for his patients to help improve their lives.

The J.T. Gilbert Clinical Award was established in 1991 to honor all professional clinical disciplines that work in the home health field. The criteria are specific that the individuals nominated must be involved in direct patient care and must demonstrate excellence in the home care field.

Carolyn Little of Meridian has received the 2016 Home Health Aide of the Year Award.

Little has worked for Sta-Home Health as a home health aide for 13 years. Patients and caregivers affectionately refer to her as their “jewel.”

The Home Health Aide of the Year award recognized the value of the home health aide to the home care industry and to the patients that they serve.

The Mississippi Association for Home Care is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to operating for the benefit of member home health agencies, home heath related agencies and the benefit of the public in fostering and maintaining high standards of home health care.
