Nashville-based 4-Top Hospitality will open a Sombra Mexican Kitchen in Flowood in November, its second in metro Jackson.
The second Sombra will follow one in Ridgeland’s Township, which opened four years ago. At 111 Market Street off Lakeland Drive, it will seat 225 and have a patio. A Cheddar’s was located there till it closed early this year. 4-Top leased the 8,500-square-foot space through CBRE Inc. Jackson.
Partners Ben Brock, David Conn, Doug Hogrefe and Paul Schramkowski of 4-Top Hospitality own and operate 11 restaurants in Mississippi and Tennessee including sister Italian eatery Amerigo, which opened its second Jackson-area location in January at 155 Market Street next to where the newest Sombra will be. Carraway Construction of Brandon will do the remodeling.
Sombra will offer its take on traditional Mexican and Southwest cuisine in a rustic, colorful environment for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Chef-driven concepts include Etch in Nashville, which is rated first in the city by Zagat and has won numerous local awards, and oyster bar Saltine in Jackson, which was on Bon Appetit’s “Top 50 New Restaurants 2015.”
The independent chain plans to expand to 14 restaurants by the end of 2017 with the additions of Char in Memphis and Nashville.
