Water company to build $25M factory near Byram, hiring 42

A Minneapolis company will build a $25 million factory to make bottles and fill them with water in Hinds County, hiring 42 people over three years.

Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft said Premium Waters will lease land in an industrial park near Byram, build a 210,000 square-foot plant and begin operations by 2017.

Craft says MDA will give $328,000 for infrastructure and site improvements. Hinds County will also give money, but Craft didn’t know how much.

Hinds County will cut local property taxes on the building, but Craft says no projections of the value of those breaks were available.

The state will also rebate up to 4 percent of workers’ pay from income tax collections to Premium Waters.

Premium Waters has six bottling plants across the U.S.
