A New Orleans-based health system and one based in southwest Mississippi have announced a new partnership.
A news release from Ochsner (OX-ner) Health System and McComb-based Southwest Health System says the partnership is patient-centered, and each system will keep its own assets and employees.
Southwest board president Renan Richmond says that even before the partnership was announced, more than 100 new cancer patients were able to get treatment from Ochsner specialists in southwest Mississippi. Specialists in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm abnormalities also are available.
The news release says the new partnership will also provide remote health care services such as live clinical consultations.
Ochsner President and CEO Warner Thomas says Ochsner employs nearly 1,100 physicians and provides access to more than 3,500 others through eight similar partnerships across Louisiana.
