The University of Mississippi Medical Center Grenada is expanding patient rehabilitation care through a new partnership with Mid South Rehab Services Inc.
Mid South Rehab Services is providing comprehensive, specialized services on the UMMC Grenada campus that include physical, occupational and speech therapy.
As part of the agreement, UMMC Grenada rehabilitation services employees have become employees of Mid South Rehab, founded in 1996 and one of the largest diversified therapy care providers in Mississippi. It serves both its own patients and those in partner organizations such as UMMC Grenada.
“Mid South Rehab Services Inc. is excited and honored to have been selected by UMMC Grenada to serve as their strategic therapy partner,” said Steven Cole, chief executive officer and president of Mid South Rehab Services.
Specialty services include pediatrics, stroke, hand, industrial and sports rehabilitation, women’s health, chronic pain, memory and cognitive problems, amputation, urinary incontinence, and swallowing difficulties and dysphagia. Therapy also targets arthritis, stroke recovery, back and neck pain, chronic pain, total joint replacement, orthopaedic surgery, post-cardiac rehabilitation and neurological challenges, among others.
“We have recently made significant progress in improving our patient outcomes by providing additional clinical training to our therapy team, and we have recently purchased new, state-of-the-art therapy equipment that will improve our patients’ overall experiences and outcomes,” Cole said.
Grenada native Cody Lancaster, who received his doctor of physical therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Health Related Professions, serves as director of rehabilitation at UMMC Grenada. Dr. Danica DiPaolo, an orthopaedic surgeon at UMMC Grenada, is serving as medical director for outpatient therapy.
Mid South’s investment in new equipment will “give our patients an ideal experience,” Sigler said. It allows UMMC Grenada to offer therapy services to a wider region, he said.
